Whether it’s a winter getaway or a summer holiday, June can be a great month for travel. It’s also a good time for…
…yes! Another quiz! Hey, it’s no good blaming me if you don’t take proper precautions around this blog is it?
Travelling can be very risky. And as a dedicated crime fiction fan, you know all sorts of crime novels that involve buses, trains, taxis and ships, don’t you? Or do you? Take this handy quiz and find out. Read each case’s description and match it with the correct sleuth or author. At the end of the quiz, check your score to see how well you’ve done. Don’t forget to go all the way to the end of the quiz to see which answers you got correct.
Ready? Collect your ticket and come aboard – if you dare!

I only got 70 per cent this time as my guesses didn’t work out. Great quiz, as ever, Margot. I was relieved you did not include “Snakes on a plane” (a flim I haven’t seen).
Maxine – Thanks for the kind words
– I appreciate it. I’m an awful guesser myself, so I admire anyone who risks that strategy. Funny you’d have mentioned Snakes on a Plane. I haven’t seen that one either – I’ve got the strong feeling I wouldn’t like it…
Muchy to my own amazement, I got 9 out of 10 right – which, as I was guessing wildly on several of them, isn’t terrible. Several sleuths there whom I haven’t read – but what I knew of them seemed to match up with the locale and/or m.o. Great quiz – thanks!

Les – Well done!
– and don’t naysay guessing. It’s a valuable strategy that I wish I could use better than I can.
I got 80. I’m happy with that, especially since I haven’t read any Roderick Alleyn’s stories. But on the Montalbano, what have I missed? I don’t remember reading this book, but I have a few left to go, happily.
Kathy – 80%’s a fine score – ya did good. And as far as the Montalbano series goes, I don’t want to give away spoilers, but if you continue in the series, you’ll get there…
I broke my resolve to wait until the library gets the latest Montalbano. I thought I could hold out, but my will weakened and I caved in to temptation. (This is as bad as chocolate!) Ah, what mysteries there are from Vigata, as well as a beach, wine, pasta with seafood, a curmudgeonly detective and his crazed team.
Kathy – I don’t blame you one single bit! Yes indeed Montalbano is tempting isn’t he?
Thanks Margot. I got a respectable 90%
Sarah – 90% is more than respectable. You did quite well
Margot: An interesting quiz. I got 80%. Not criticizing when I suggest the grading curve is getting alittle high when 70% is a passing grade.
Bill – Glad you thought the quiz was interesting. I’ll have to keep in mind what you say about what “counts” as a passing score…
I got 70%. Quite a feat when I hadn’t even heard of some of them!
Pauline – 70% really is quite well done for not being familiar with some of these novels.
90%, but to be honest I only deserved 45% as I was guessing a LOT
Rich – Guessing is an important skill; I wouldn’t sell myself short if I were you. And…. well done!
I finally got to catch up on this quiz – but alas the perfect score proves elusive – 90 again darn it
do keep ‘em coming though
Bernadette – I’m glad you got the chance to catch up. And 90% is a great, great score – well done. Don’t worry, I will strike again so there’ll be other opportunities.
