Ah, October! A time for tricks, treats, ghosts, things that go ‘bump’ in the night and…
… a quiz! Oh, stop it! I didn’t force you to click on this blog, did I?
Ghosts, witches and other Hallowe’en thrills and chills have haunted a lot of crime fiction. And as a crime fiction fan, you know your haunted mystery stories, don’t you? Or do you? Take this handy quiz and find out. Read each question and choose the correct answer. At the end of the quiz, check your score to see how well you’ve done. Don’t forget to go all the way to the end of the quiz to see which answers you got correct.
Ready? Ring the doorbell and ask for a treat… if you dare!

I got 90% – that’s with 2 guesses, one right and one wrong, which seems fair! Great quiz, thanks for the entertainment…
Moira – Thank you
– I’m so glad you enjoyed the quiz. And 90% is a terrific score – well done you!
Margot: Its never happened before with your quizzes. I got 100%. Yeah!
Bill – Congratulations! Well done and well deserved
I got 70% because I skipped a few. I thought one of those was a trick question…maybe
. but anyway some of those questions were easy to guess and others not so much.
Keishon – You did just fine. I honestly didn’t plan any of the items to really be deliberately misleading. But I will say they’re designed so you have to pay attention…
Of course not. I’m just messing with you
The questions were fine.
Thanks – and yeah, I figured you were…
Level pegging with Keishon at 70%. Some ‘educated’ guesses in there… Thanks Margot.
Rich – 70% is quite respectable. And I wish I were good at guessing; I’m miserable at it actually. Glad you enjoyed the quiz.
So, the specter of this ghostly holiday is haunting the blogosphere. Great quiz. I got 90 on it..I’m not an Agatha Christie reader, so I missed that one.
Kathy – Thanks
– and Well-done! 90% is a terrific score. And yes, the blogosphere is full of s-c-a-r-y things…
Margot, may I recommend Ghostlines by Melbourne-based writer Nick Gadd as a little Hallowe’en gift to you. This debut novel, which won the Ned Kelly Award for Best First Book in 2009, is a compelling read, blending crime fiction with supernatural elements.
Oh, and only 60% for me in the quiz. Eh bien (as Hercule Poirot would say), someone’s gotta come last!
Angela – …and let’s face it; nobody has time to read everything. Thank you so much too for the recommendation of Ghost Lines. It’s one I’ve not had the chance to read, but it just went on my ‘I must get hold of that book and read it!’ list.
A perfect score for me for the first (and probably only) time. My little grey cells were working properly for once – clearly I should do all your quizzes with a glass of red wine in hand
Bernadette – Congratulations and well-done you!
– I am quite happy for you. And it’s clear evidence to me of the value of a glass of wine. I’m just saying…
Stunned to get 90% but I think you were feeling generous today.
Patti – I’m a university prof – I never feel generous.
– That’s a terrific score and you shouldn’t be stunned; you know your stuff.
I got 90%! Got the Brisbane/Melbourne wrong.
Such fun! I loved the little sounds.
Nan – Oh, I’m so glad you enjoyed the quiz
. And you got a great score, too – very nicely done! I’m impressed. And I have to say, I do like the way that the software I use works. Glad you liked it.
Wow, I finally passed one. 80% — thanks for asking all the right questions, Margot.
Pat – Well done!! And it’s not only a matter of the kinds of questions, it’s the fact that you know your stuff.
Wooh! Another quiz and I got 100%!
Sarah – I am very much impressed! Well done you!
