It always amazes me how you pronounce those name so beautifully. This was the first Crime Fiction News Break I showed my husband, and he thought you were a real newscaster. Great job, as usual, Margot!
Thanks – to both of you – Sue. 🙂 – I’ll let you in on a secret; Spanish is my second language (I studied it at university), so Spanish pronunciation isn’t usually a big problem for me (not that I never make mistakes – I make lots of ’em).
Thanks as always for this, Margot! I agree with Sue – your pronounciations are brilliant! All these ‘foreigners’ make talking about crime fiction so much harder these days… 😉
😆 Have you not listened to ‘Weegie’ at full ‘native’ speed? 😉 In all seriousness, FictionFan, I do appreciate the kind words, and I’m glad you enjoyed this month’s CFNB.
😆 OK, I admit you make a good point! 😉
😉 I suppose every dialect can be difficult to understand if you’re not accustomed to it, to be honest.
Cheers for the update. There’s a couple more on the list from the Edgar Nominations…..thanks, I think!
I know exactly what you mean, Col. My list never shrinks either…
Thank you Margot, great stuff – (and still loving those shelves 🙂 )
Glad you enjoyed this, Sergio. And thanks for the kind words about the shelves. I have to admit I am fond of them.
Margot: Well I am another run in 2015. I have read neither of the Edgar Award winners you mentioned. I have not read any winners of a major award to date. I am going to read the Arthur Ellis for Best Canadian Mystery novel as I have ordered the whole shortlist. Let me make a pitch for a future Crime Fiction Newsbreak to include that winner.
Have you ever considered a breaking news Newsbreak? I think you could do an excellent “Stop the Blog!” there is breaking news!
To tell you the truth, Bill, I’ve not been good at keeping up with reading the award winners either. In some years I read some (or all) of the shortlist for a given award; in some I don’t. And the Ellis winner will definitely be mentioned on the broadcast.
As for breaking news? I think that’s a great idea, and I’ve actually thought of doing something along those lines. Thanks for the suggestion.
I love hearing you do Spanish names! And the rest of the news was interesting too….
Thank you, Moira – on both counts 🙂
